Geofencing

Modified on Fri, 20 Sep at 2:39 PM

Geofencing on the Vesscomm platform allows you to create digital boundaries around your vessel. Once a geofence is set, you’ll receive alerts when the vessel moves outside the specified area.

  1. Creating a Geofence:

    • Navigate to the Geofence tab within the Map page.

    • Choose between two options to create a geofence:

      • Radius: Use the slider bar to define a radius between 25m to 500m. Once set, click “Save,” and the geofence will appear on the map.

        • The radius will be visually displayed on your screen on the map view as a grey circle, therefore please make sure that you are zoomed in enough to see it over your vessel icon.

      • Freehand: Use the crosshair cursor to click and draw a custom-shaped geofence by selecting multiple points on the map around your vessel.

        • Once you are happy with your selected points using the freehand tool press on enter on your keyboard.

        • You will then see a "Save" and "Cancel" button appear on your screen to either confirm your selection or cancel

        • To exit the freehand tool whilst using it and restart simply press on the esc button on your keyboard.

  2. Managing Geofences:

    • Once a geofence is established, it will be listed as Geofence 1 under the Geofence tab.

    • The crosshair icon which is displayed against this name will zoom you into the geofence on the map upon being click on.

    • You’ll begin receiving notifications when the vessel exits the geofenced area.

  3. Deleting Geofences:

    • To delete, click the “Delete” button next to the listed geofence and then confirm you wish to delete the geofence.
